Abraham's was a false religion?
Last Sunday, my pastor tried to equate Judaism to a number of false faiths. To be sure, the modern perversion of Judaism is at odds with the TNK (Bible) in many ways. However, my pastor didn't mention modern Judaism but essentially named Abraham as father of a false religion (akin to Buddha, Confucius, and Muhammad). I'm sure he's not cognizant of just how much he violated Biblical/Godly doctrine in so doing.
Unperverted Judaism is the the one, true faith. Jesus is Jewish. Followers of Jesus are Jewish, begotten or adopted descendants of Abraham. True Christians practice what would be more accurately known as Messianic Judaism, their all-too-common rejection of Biblical traditions notwithstanding. You can't dismiss Abraham and Judaism without dismissing Christianity, as they're one and the same. It's too bad so many Christians oppose this Biblical label; and it's too bad that so many Jewish descendants of Abraham have perverted their once-true worldview by rejecting all things Messianic.
Our church does not seem to be obeying the Lord in taking the Gospel to the Jews first, to Israel (Judea and Samaria) first. They prefer to interpret such commands allegorically only, ignoring the plain meaning. Up until last Sunday, there did not seem to be any open hostility toward God's chosen people, but Sunday was an obvious turn for the worse. I'm disappointed, to say the least.
I also find it ironic this event took place on Easter. (I don't care for the pagan name, but I try not to bristle too much at it.) Perhaps it's doubly ironic that not only was this nonsense preached on Resurrection Sunday, but on the wrong one! The Biblical calendar puts Firstfruits (the proper name for the Resurrection holy day) on April 27 this year. [While I have my theories, I don't know why the church long abandoned the Biblical calendar, nor why there are different calendars for Roman Catholic Easter, Eastern Orthodox Easter, and Protestant Easter--none of which is 100% consistent with Scripture. Modern, non-Messianic Jews don't celebrate Firstfruits anymore. Long ago, perverted rabbis removed it from the calendar in rebellion to the Messiah. Even so, the non-Messianic Jewish calendar is still not calculated quite Biblically, though they're closer than the others.]
