Ethicists

All believers are ethicists. We must test all things against the Word of God, the Word being an unchanging standard of ethics.

Is it better to be seen as humble even if it means being perceived wrongly as unsure about the Word of God? Or is it better to be confident in the Word, even if it means being perceived wrongly as proud and arrogant?

The former garners earthly rewards, while the latter, heavenly. The former allows room for heresies to remain in hearers, while the latter urges hearers to seek Biblical proof (or reproof). The former obscures the light, while the latter glorifies God. The former only appears to be obedient, but the latter truly is. The former may appear as humility yet harbor an unwavering arrogance, while the latter may appear as pride yet secretly be open to God's discipline.
