"The Gift" Is Coming

Praise In Motion presents The Gift in November (15th & 22nd). The PIM dancers have been rehearsing it for a while now. I'm lucky enough to see just a little bit of these rehearsals. It's gonna be great! I hope you make the time to see at least one of their performances this fall.

If you know of any little girls (or boys!) who might be interested in ballet, bring 'em! They can get backstage tours and meet the dancers, and they'll be blessed by the message. You, too! » read more »

Dancing
Genes that govern aspects of social communication, human bonding and spirituality help to determine whether you'll make a good dancer, research suggests. Professional dancers are born with at least two special genes that give them a leg up on the rest of us, according to a new study. » read more »

Decline of High Culture

Granted, my perception is not typical, I'm sure, but it sure seems to me that high culture (for lack of a better term) is declining. Theater, art, ballet, literature, etc., all seem to be suffering more now than a few years ago--suffering from apathy or disinterest. I believe it's largely due to an overall decline in our civilization, fueled by ignorance and a piss-poor education system. What do you think? » read more »

Dance Resumes

The new dance year has begun. As I first stepped into En Pointe's (EP) studio yesterday afternoon, I was inundated with small tasks, queries, and greetings. It was pleasantly crowded, and I was a bit overwhelmed. Nevertheless, I was happy to be back. » read more »

En Pointe

|

Please pray for En Pointe School of Dance. This school is struggling somewhat due to changing demographics--new neighbors just aren't so interested in ballet. The school is considering moving locations as one step in stimulating new growth, but this has numerous trials associated. En Pointe is a center of very high quality ballet instruction (plus jazz, tap, modern, praise & worship and more), and all its leaders exude Biblical values.

PIM's 2008-09 Season

The dates for Praise In Motion's 2008-2009 season are now published on PIM's website. The spring dates are tentative, as noted, but the November ones should be good. Of course, venue information will be published as it's known (to the webmaster), so keep watching that page. » read more »

Advice for dancers and their parents

There are three kinds of dancers: the serious, the just-the-fun, and the unwilling. What follows is advice to parents of all three. Most of this is advice offered to me as a parent of a dancer by her teachers and professionals. Regardless of how poorly I may follow this advice, the advice itself is good. » read more »

Please support PIM

I want to encourage you to prayerfully consider supporting PIM financially. I find few charities to be worthwhile, often because their stewardship is poor. However, PIM is exemplary, and I wholeheartedly endorse them without reservation. » read more »
